Getting out the vote

Taking time to invest in you and your colleagues

Michael Fanning 9 Jul 2025

Getting out the vote - time spent now is investing in the future,

During the last two weeks I have joined Donna-Sue Wright, Convenor at the John Radcliffe hospital, Oxford, to talk to colleagues about the pay consultation and to both check and encourage them to vote. We emphasised how easy it is to vote as we handed out leaflets with the QR Code. It was also a great opportunity to respond to questions from Nursing Support Workers about the offer from the 快猫视频 and how easy it is to join, the QR Code was very handy.

If I'm being honest, the first walkabout was very encouraging as colleagues clearly understood why the 快猫视频 was consulting with members. The second walkabout was a bit disheartening as whilst colleagues agreed the pay award did not reflect the extra demands being placed upon them, the commitment to take time and vote seemed a bit lacking. It is totally understandable that during a busy shift, taking time to pause and make the effort to invest in yourself can be a distraction.

I also had a catch up with the Branch executives from Milton Keynes in my role as Board link for the Branch. Whilst there is support for the campaign, some members were expressing anxiety about the job situation and being seen to support action.

Remember: voting is a personal and private matter and no one should feel coerced into sharing their decision. Whether you choose to share or not, whether you vote at work at home or in the supermarket, the most crucial act you can take to invest in your and colleagues' future is to vote. Please take that simple step.

You can find out more about the pay consultation online - voting is quick, using your vote really matters.
