Scottish nurse researcher awarded ¿ìèÊÓÆµ Fellowship for instrumental role in advancing clinical academic careers

Professor Juliet MacArthur, Chief Nurse – Research and Development in NHS Lothian and Honorary Professor of Practice, Queen’s University Belfast, has received the ¿ìèÊÓÆµâ€™s top honour of being made a Fellow of the ¿ìèÊÓÆµ in recognition of an unwavering dedication, extraordinary vision, and profound impact on the field of nursing.

Juliet MacArthur Juliet is recognised by her peers as a leader in clinical academic career development, not only in NHS Lothian, but across Scotland and throughout the UK.

Within a career that has spanned nearly 40 years of nursing, she leads with an exceptional focus on building alliances to develop research capacity and capability within nurses and allied health care professionals within the NHS, coaching and mentoring individuals to realise their potential whilst simultaneously developing her own research career. The focus of the work she has led over three decades has built the foundations necessary to advance the art and science of nursing.

The impact of her many achievements is demonstrated in the testimonials of the nurses she has supported and enabled to develop and sustain clinical-academic careers and in her numerous research outputs and publications over many years. 

Juliet’s nursing prowess was also recently celebrated at the 2024 ¿ìèÊÓÆµ Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards, where she was named as joint winner of the Inspiring Excellence – Nursing Innovation and Research category.
